Rewards come in all shapes and sizes – a simple smile from a traveller delighting in their experience on our private stretch of the Zambezi, kind words written on their departure, our team’s pride in being the reason for another’s joy, and then, today’s example, recognition of a whole other kind… that from the readers of Condé Nast Traveler.

Today, the magazine announced the results of its 29th annual Readers’ Choice Awards with Royal Chundu recognised as the No. 10 Top Resort in Africa – in a category listing the top resorts and safari camps in Africa as rated by Condé Nast Traveler readers.

This year, over 300,000 dedicated readers – nearly twice as many as last year – cast votes for 7,394 hotels, 606 cities, 500 cruise ships, and 236 islands, in an average survey time of 8.4 minutes. The result? The 1,402 best travel experiences in the world.

“The magnitude of this accolade for our family here is beyond any expectation for our little village river property,” says Tina Aponte, MD and Owner of Royal Chundu. “Our staff are beside themselves as they could never have imagined coming from a village and achieving this. The only lodge on that list that is 100% authentically run, managed and cared for by its communities.”

We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us, our guests who inspire us with each visit, and the greater Royal Chundu family who make awards such as this possible. Congratulations to all of the other hotels and lodges in Africa that were featured in this year’s Awards!
