When our guests visit the lodge and take a moment to meet with the people in the villages that surround us on the Zambezi, they take a step into the lives of incredible women and men working hard to provide for their families in rural Zambia. They meet a community looking after each and every member with very little means.

They fall in love, and they ache for their own community, the hand of a great grandmother caring for the little ones, the smell of fire and slow-cooked food in a cast iron pot, running wild and free on the earth with friends.

They see how they might be able to make life a little easier for those they connect with, in exchange for the blessings Zambia has given them. It’s not changing a way of life, it’s relieving the burdens we all carry in some way or another.

We are so grateful for the ways in which our guests contribute to our neighbouring communities through the Royal Chundu Foundation.

A NEW DONATION OF SOLAR PANELS FOR THE VILLAGE

These solar panels will help provide reliable, affordable water for every person in the village. Water is life — for drinking and showering as much as growing and selling crops, washing clothes, cooking food, cleaning crockery. Water is everything. And it’s something you really realise when you have to go without.
