A Year of Celebrating Royal Chundu: 15 Years of River Magic, Mischief & Marvels

A lodge is made not of buildings but of people, and ours are nothing short of extraordinary. It’s time to sing, dance and dine, team!

This year, the Zambezi welcomed us the way it always does, with a wink and a whisper that sounded suspiciously like, “Hold onto your paddles, this year is going to be a good one.” And it was. Because this year marked 15 years of Royal Chundu. Of sharing our river home with others.

Our chefs created incredible new dishes from our gardens. Our guides introduced guests to hippos, kingfishers, and the delicate art of balancing one’s dignity during a canoe selfie. Our waiters orchestrated surprise sandbar sundowners and baobab campfire dinners, the kind that make people propose, dance, or claim they’ve discovered their true selves.

Our housekeeping and maintenance magicians kept everything immaculate. Our community continued to inspire us as their gardens grew and grew, as donated solar panels and water tanks transformed the lives of multiple families. And excitingly, we made huge strides in the building of our new school.

We met wonderful travellers and travel lovers, and found the spirit of exploration and adventure alive and well in hearts young and old.

Thank you for 15 years of river-soaked magic, of community-rooted hospitality, of working together with love, laughter, and joy.
